Things are strange, they are different, they are foreign and they are filled with unknowns. With that being said healthcare looks different this week than it did last week, which means that therapy looks different too, it’s now socially distant.
As a team we’ve been doing a lot of talking about the impact this has on you and if there is one thing we can all agree on, it is, please don’t stop “showing up.” This doesn’t mean we want to see you in our office, that’s closed. But it means we still want to see you. We want you to utilize the confidential, safe, HIPPA compliant, tele-health software so that we can continue doing the work.
Social distancing is food for depression and anxiety. All this time inside, alone, away from the outside world makes mental illness grow. Let us help. If you are worried about finances because you aren’t working, let us know, let us help. This is why we are here, for times like this.
If you’re worried about how it works for kids, I promise it does. They like it. They like showing their therapist around their space and giving us a peak into their lives. They also like consistency and things that feel normal.
If your child is in therapy, they are there for a reason. There is something they need help with. This something didn’t disappear because of the Coronavirus, and it will grow unless you keep treating it.
I want to promise you that regardless of where we treat you (feel free to do sessions in your car!), you are getting the best of us, and we are doing all we can to make this time of transition work for you. We will keep showing up. We will continue to be here for you and we will continue to help you through it.
All our best,
Lori and the Village Wellness Team
